What are the requirements
for the Assignment America program?
- At least one-year post-graduate acute care
experience
- Confirmation of two above-average references
(we will not contact your current employer without your prior
approval)
- Native fluency in English
- Your nursing credentials must meet the requirements
of the United States Nursing Boards.
- You must meet the requirements for a Permanent
Residency Visa as determined by the United States Immigration
and Naturalization Service

First Steps: Licensure & Visa
What documents do
I need to work in America?
Assignment America will help you complete all
the paperwork and obtain all the documents you'll need to work as
a registered nurse in the United States, which include a U.S. RN
license and a Permanent Residency Visa.

What is the NCLEX-RN?
The National Council Licensure Examination for
Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) is a standardized, computerized exam,
currently administered in the United States and its territories,
that tests a nurse's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Test results
are used by the U.S. boards of nursing when making licensure decisions.
Anyone who wishes to practice as a registered nurse in the United
States is required to take and pass the NCLEX-RN in order to become
licensed. Assignment America provides a study
program to help you prepare for this important exam.

How does the visa
process work? Can I bring my family?
Assignment America will sponsor you, your spouse
and children under 21 for a Permanent
Residency Visa (green card) after you pass the NCLEX-RN.

Employment terms range from 12 to 24 months depending
upon your current NCLEX-RN and U.S. Immigration status, personal
interest, and Assignment America client facility needs.

Expectations of

Assignment America's Clinical Development
Program will introduce you to the U.S. health care system and
help you prepare for the differences in nursing you're likely to
experience. This two-day clinical workshop is offered during the
NCLEX-RN exam trip.

What happens when
I complete my employment term?
The end of your Assignment America contract may
be just the beginning of your adventure! As part of Cross Country Healthcare, Inc. -the nation's largest provider of medical staffing- we're uniquely
able to offer multiple career options through our affiliated companies.
You may choose to remain in America and see even more of the country
as a travel nurse, earning top pay and bonuses in challenging assignments.
Perhaps you prefer the flexibility of per-diem work, or desire the
stability of permanent placement. You may also decide to extend
your contract with Assignment America, or return to one of the facilities
in which you worked as a direct-hire permanent employee.
